Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at sevan_paris@me.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

If the game is already underway, I will send you links to the Discord Server and DnD Beyond Campaign within one business day.

If the campaign hasn't started yet, I will send the links 24 hours before the game begins.

You can read my refund policy here.

You will receive a link to the game's Discord Server, along with a link to the campaign on DnD Beyond.

Discord is where the game takes place. DnD Beyond is where you will build your character. The DnD Beyond link also gives you access to all of my sourcebooks, which will increase your character options.

Play by Post games are a lot like a traditional live game. But instead of talking to one another, we're typing. The die rolls are electronic. And I provide screenshots of maps during combat encounters. Regarding the pace, it depends on the group. But I find that during combat groups progress around 1-2 rounds per weekday. Most campaigns take around a year to complete.

It feels like the more I play rpgs, the more difficult this question is to answer. What I like to tell people is that an rpg is sort of like a grown-up way to play cops and robbers but in your favorite genre.

In the case of Dungeons and Dragons, you're imagining yourself to be a fantasy character, such as a wizard or a knight, and going off on an adventure.

Sometimes the adventure can be simple, like rescuing a loved one from a horde of goblins. But sometimes the adventure can be more nuanced, like finding a dragon's lair, so you can convince said dragon to stop raining fire down on innocent villagers. Meanwhile, you've just learned that one of the villagers has angered the dragon by stealing its egg. What do you do?

RPG is a video game genre as well. But it's that "What do you do?" component that really sets pen and paper rpgs apart from video games.

And don't get me wrong: I love video games, but no matter how advanced they become, they're always going to have guardrails of some sort. Pen and Paper rpgs don't have that. When you're trying to think of a creative solution to a situation, you're only limited by your imagination. And dice I guess. That can limit you too.

For instance, if you set out on a course of action that has a chance of success or failure, we'll use dice to determine the result. Most of the time, you're adding a bonus to the die roll, determined by how well you do something--like swinging a sword, or persuading someone, or cooking a soufflé whatever. A target number is set and, if you make the roll, you succeed.

Still have questions? Feel free to shoot me an email.

I check in to roll dice and/or advance to the story at least three times every weekday. I ask players to check in at least twice every weekday. I don't check in on weekends, but players are welcome to if there is something going on in the game they want to play out.
